The good stuff

It does load pages quick - like, weirdly fast sometimes. I noticed that on slower connections, especially in rural areas, it’d pull up sites before Chrome even started spinning. The built-in downloader for YouTube videos was actually… useful? I mean, not something I’d recommend, but it worked without needing a third-party tool. And the “Top sites” and “Most visited” sections were decent for quick access. If you’re using it on a low-end phone and just need basic browsing with minimal friction, it’s not terrible. It’s not pretty, but it gets the job done.

The not-so-good

But here’s where it falls apart. You can’t disable tracking. Like, at all. That’s a big red flag when your main browser is logging everything behind the scenes. I checked the privacy settings and there’s no toggle, no option to block trackers. Meanwhile, Safari on iPhone or Firefox on Android let you turn off tracking with one tap. This feels like a step back in 2024. Also, the app keeps your search history in its own database - even in incognito mode. That’s wild. Incognito means private, right? Not here. And downloading APKs from unknown sources? That’s not safe either. You’re opening yourself up to malware, especially since the developer info is vague and the license is unclear.

Bottom line

If you’re on Android and need a lightweight browser for occasional use, sure, UC Browser might work. But if you care about privacy, security, or just want something reliable, skip it. There are better free options out there - DuckDuckGo, Firefox, even Brave. They’re safer, faster in the long run, and don’t leave you wondering what they’re doing with your data. Bottom line: UC Browser for iPhone for Android is not worth the risk. Don’t do it. Go with something that respects your privacy instead.
