Zoho WorkDrive for Web Apps

So I was stuck in that weird middle ground where we needed a shared space for files but didn’t want to go full Google Drive or Dropbox. My team’s using Zoho Suite for emails and calendars, so I figured why not try Zoho WorkDrive for Web Apps? It’s not flashy, but it just… works. No setup headaches, no surprise fees, and it actually lets multiple people edit docs at the same time without crashing. That alone saved us from a few awkward Slack threads.

The good stuff

Real-time editing on documents is smoother than I expected. We were working on a project proposal and three people changed sections at once - no conflicts, no "you can't edit this" popups. Also, the integration with Zoho Office Suite means we don’t have to switch apps to open a spreadsheet or presentation. It loads right in the browser, which is a win when you’re juggling half a dozen tabs. And honestly, the folder structure feels clean. No clutter, no nonsense. If you’re used to Google Drive, it’s not as polished, but it gets the job done without feeling like a chore.

The not-so-good

It’s kind of buried in the Zoho universe. You need to know where to find it - it’s not front-and-center like Drive or OneDrive. And the interface? Functional, sure, but it hasn’t aged well. Feels a bit dated compared to newer tools. Also, no mobile app mentioned here - if you’re on the go, you’re stuck with the web version, which isn’t terrible but isn’t great either. And hey, it’s not free - but since the pricing is scalable, it might make sense for small teams already using other Zoho tools. Still, if you’re not in that ecosystem, it’s hard to justify jumping in just for this.

Bottom line

If you’re already using Zoho for work, Zoho WorkDrive for Web Apps is a reliable choice for team file sharing and real-time editing. It’s not going to blow anyone away, but it doesn’t crash either. Skip it if you’re not already in the Zoho world - there are better options out there for general use. But if you’re looking for something simple, secure, and low-friction inside your existing stack, give it a shot. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely usable.
